Ghaziabad's Track Record on Coal and Wood Cooking
Before you pick a fuel, look at how Ghaziabad and its neighbours have treated solid-fuel kitchens so far.
The UP Pollution Control Board planned action against Noida and Ghaziabad eateries cooking on coal or wood, starting with tandoori restaurants using coal and brick kilns (Restaurant India, September 2018).
Ghaziabad's district magistrate announced district-wide GRAP from 15 October and said coal or wood furnaces (tandoors) in hotels and restaurants would not be permitted, only gas-operated ovens (PTI).
A petition before the National Green Tribunal (OA 294 of 2023) raised whether Ghaziabad's restaurants, hotels and banquets hold UPPCB environmental consent. CPCB filed a reply in the matter.
Across the border, Delhi's pollution committee banned coal and firewood tandoors in hotels, restaurants and open eateries, citing GRAP Stage I, and allowed only electric or gas tandoors (PTI). Ghaziabad shares the same air.
Dates above are from public news reports and tribunal filings. Orders change by GRAP stage and by property, and this page is not legal advice. Confirm your own site with the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam or UPPCB before buying a solid-fuel oven.
PNG or LPG? How to Fuel an Oven in Ghaziabad
Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) is the piped-gas distributor in Ghaziabad, and its commercial segment supplies piped natural gas to restaurants, hotels and malls around Delhi-NCR.
That does not mean every lane is connected. Piped gas depends on your exact address, so the first call is to IGL, not to us.
- Ask the landlord or society whether a commercial PNG line already reaches the building.
- Apply early. A connection can take longer than the oven, so do not wait for delivery.
- If there is no pipeline, plan a safe LPG cylinder bay and a gas line.
- Tell us the gas type at quote stage. Our hybrid and gas ovens take LPG or natural gas burners.

How the Oven Choice Changes Across Ghaziabad
| Cluster | Dining landmarks | What usually works |
|---|---|---|
| Indirapuram (Khands) | Shipra Mall, Indirapuram Habitat Centre, Jaipuriya Mall, Eros Market Place | Mall units and arcade shops with shared shafts: compact gas or hybrid, flue route agreed with the landlord first |
| Vaishali and Kaushambi | Mahagun Metro Mall (near the Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Vaishali metro), Kaushambi markets | Metro-fed, takeaway-heavy outlets: countertop or wheel-mounted ovens that fit a narrow frontage |
| Raj Nagar and Raj Nagar Extension | Gaur Central Mall, RDC | Society-fed cafes, family restaurants and cloud kitchens: size for the 7 to 10 PM rush |
| Sahibabad and Vasundhara | Pacific Mall, hotels such as Ramada by Wyndham Vasundhara | Hotel and banquet kitchens: fixed brick oven with a proper chimney and gas backup |
| Mohan Nagar and the Meerut Road belt | Hotels and highway-side restaurants | Larger floor space: brick oven on wheels or an on-site brick build |
Pick Your Oven Without a Sales Call
- Can you get PNG or a safe LPG bay? Yes: gas or hybrid brick. No: do not buy a wood-only oven.
- Is solid fuel allowed in writing? Not sure: buy hybrid and run on gas. Confirmed: wood is a flavour option.
- Will the oven stay in one place? Yes: fixed brick. May move or share space: brick on wheels.
- How many pizzas in your busiest hour? Plan the oven for that hour, not the average day.
- Only a counter to spare? A countertop oven is the realistic fit.
Bakes per hour = 3,600 / bake seconds. Multiply by pizzas per bake, then plan on 70 to 80 percent of that number because the deck needs time to recover. Example: a 90-second bake with 2 pizzas gives 80 in theory, so plan for roughly 56 to 64 an hour. This is a planning allowance, not a model spec. Use the capacity calculator for your numbers.
Five Questions for the Landlord or Society
Is solid fuel in the lease?
Some commercial towers and society markets ban open flame or solid fuel outright.
Where can the flue go?
Ask for terrace or shaft access in writing and check it is not shared with a neighbour's exhaust.
What are the gas rules?
Cylinder storage, a PNG riser and meter position all need the owner's approval.
When can goods move?
Many societies limit delivery hours and lift use. Brick ovens are heavy, so book a slot early.
Who handles the paperwork?
Fire safety and pollution board consent can sit with you or the owner. Settle this first.
Send the answers with a floor plan on WhatsApp and we will check access, flue route and floor load.

Before You Buy a Pizza Oven in Ghaziabad
Which wood fired pizza oven manufacturer serves Ghaziabad?
Forno Sethi, a Delhi manufacturer working since 2017, builds wood fired, brick and hybrid pizza ovens at its own workshop in Burari and supplies Ghaziabad cafes, restaurants, banquets and cloud kitchens, from Indirapuram and Vaishali to Raj Nagar and Sahibabad. It has installed 250+ kitchens across India and supports installation on site.
Is a wood fired pizza oven allowed in Ghaziabad restaurants?
Ghaziabad has a record of enforcement here. In October 2020 the district magistrate said coal and wood furnaces (tandoors) would not be permitted in hotels and restaurants under GRAP and that only gas-operated ovens could be used. Rules change with the GRAP stage and the property, so get permission in writing. A hybrid oven that can run on gas is the safest purchase.
Can a Forno Sethi oven run on piped natural gas (PNG) in Ghaziabad?
Forno Sethi hybrid and gas ovens are built with LPG or natural gas burner options. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) distributes piped gas in Ghaziabad and supplies PNG to commercial users such as restaurants, hotels and malls around Delhi-NCR, but availability depends on your exact address. Check with IGL and tell us the gas type before the burner is fitted.
Does a Ghaziabad restaurant need pollution board consent to run an oven?
Restaurants, hotels and banquets in Ghaziabad have been the subject of UP Pollution Control Board consent questions, including a case before the National Green Tribunal (OA 294 of 2023). Whether your outlet needs consent depends on its type and size, so ask UPPCB or your consultant. We can share the oven's fuel and chimney specifications for your paperwork.
Which oven suits a small cafe in Indirapuram, Vaishali or Raj Nagar?
For a small counter, a countertop gas or hybrid oven is the practical choice. For a busy open kitchen, a brick oven on wheels gives more deck and heat storage. Decide with your peak-hour pizza count and what the landlord allows for flues and gas.
How early should I order for a new outlet in Ghaziabad?
A factory-built oven is typically ready in 7 to 10 days, and an on-site brick build takes 3 to 5 days at your location. Gas connection and landlord or authority paperwork can take longer than the oven itself, so start those first.
Can the oven be built inside my Ghaziabad restaurant instead of delivered?
Yes. Our team can build a brick oven on site, which suits custom sizes and tight access such as a mall unit or a basement kitchen. Send photos and a floor plan on WhatsApp so we can check access, flue route and floor load before you commit.
Can I see an oven in person before ordering?
Yes. Our workshop in Burari, north Delhi, is open for visits. Bring your menu and kitchen layout and we will walk through burners, insulation and sizing with you. Message +91-7827361854 on WhatsApp to fix a time.
